in all of the hysteria that the Riri Hearts MAC Fall Collection caused amongst makeup lovers and the Rihanna Navy i managed to get everything that i wanted when it released in MAC stores on the 26th with no hassle or drama. i got to the MAC Pro store in Chicago about 5 minutes after they opened, there were only about 6 other customers in the store, i was in and out in under 10 minutes. and from the drama that unfolded on my timeline on the 30th when the collection released online...i'm glad i made time in my day to go to the store.
oddly enough, the two lipstick shades i wanted were the two that most folks were the least excited about: Nude and Who's That Chick. it seemed that Talk That Talk, a matte dark plum, was the "must-have" lipstick for everyone but me. when i discovered NARS' Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Train Bleu my search for the perfect dark plum lip for fall ended.
Nude (matte) and Who's That Chick (frost)
Nude is described as a "cool nude cream". it applies like a dream and despite my thoughts that this may be a little too cool for me, i was pleasantly surprised by how wearable it is straight out of the tube. and whenever i feel the need it can easily be warmed up a bit with a liner, although i really like how it looks on its own.
Who's That Chick is described as a "midtonal orange with frost". i know that a lot of people aren't a fan of frosts finishes, but it was hard to pass this shade up. it's stunning on the lips and doesn't apply like a frost typically does, it's smoother, creamier.
unfortunately, the collection is sold out online at MAC, but you may have some luck at your local counters. last i checked Bloomingdales also still had a few (and i do mean a few) items from the collection left.
did you pick up anything from the RiRi Hearts MAC Fall Collection? what was your "must-have"?
