MAC's Tres Cheek Collection was one of the many collections that MAC released last month. i love blush. it's the part of my daily beauty routine that is a must; it brings life to my face and i feel naked without it. so you can only imagine my excitement months earlier when word spread that MAC would be doing a collection made up entirely of limited edition blushes!
"Blush as vibrantly, softly, or hip as you dare in shades that reflect your mood, style and skin tome. Six new limited edition Blush Powders in red-orange, peach, pink and lavendar that are seamlessly sheer, and stay as bright on the skin as they are in the palette."
like music to a blush whores ears! as soon as the collection went up on the MAC Pro website i was all over it.i was so tempted to purchase all six, but eventually decided on four blushes:
♥ Peony Petal - bright blue pink
♥ Modern Mandarin - red orange
♥ Immortal Flower - bright peach
♥ Lovecloud - bright mid-tone pink
my excitement, however, quickly diminished once they arrived and i had a chance to swatch and play around with them. all of the blushes in the Tres Cheek collection are satin finish and have a slight sheen to them. but they are nearly as bright & bold as i had envisioned.

while they look great in the pan, it doesn't translate well on my skin. they make me look so ashy, even Modern Mandarin which i had really high hopes for. it just doesn't work by itself on my skin, it needs to be layered with something else to make it look even half-way decent.
i'm still playing around with them though, layering them with other blushes i own to see what works best. but i could've saved a bit of money and totally passed on this collection.
blushes from the Tres Cheek Collection retail for $20 and are still available on the MAC website and at MAC counters and freestanding stores.
